Halloween 2018

October 23, 2018

No Spoilers….promise.

So, Halloween 2018 is the tenth film but the makers and Jamie Lee Curtis don’t want us calling it a franchise even though it kinda is. Jamie also said to ignore the other 8 and only count the very first one which was released in 1978 and the current one. This is because of one simple reason, the other 8 are terrible and appear to be made for the sole purpose on cashing in the success of the first film.

Unfortunately, none of them matched the first film and its taken over 30 years to finally make a film worthy of a sequel.

Watching the film in the my local cinema, the first thing I noticed on the big screen was the fact that the film is produced by Miramax – now this may not mean much to some people but it is in fact a company once run by a dirty fat pervert and I refuse to publish his name as he doesn’t reserve the credit for it. Miramax is since been bought out by another company and is no longer associated with the man in question.

This is great news as they seem to have done a great job in producing a horror film for the modern age and play homage the original in making scenes similar to the original film. This for me was brilliant and I was careful not to get all starry eyed with the film just because I was a big fan of the original. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being fooled into thinking it was a great film just because everything was new, clean and fresh.

Jamie Lee played a great part and makes me want to see her in other staring roles, I mean we have all seen True Lies and she was amazing in that. This is to be take with a pinch of salt as it was a Arnie film.

This most recent outing for Michael Myers has broken records such as – Biggest horror movie opening with a female lead. Biggest movie opening with a female lead over 55. Second biggest horror movie opening ever. Second biggest October movie opening ever. Biggest ‘Halloween’ opening ever.

So it’s done pretty welland scores 7.4 out of 10 on iMDB. Miles better than the other 8 films to come before it. I personally loved the film and loved all the little nods to the original. If you are fan of Halloween then you will love this. If you wanted to see something different from a big tall bloke who is hard to kill, killing folk then this isn’t for you – this was one complaint from my partner.

Overall, I would give it 4 Vs and it would of got 5 if it didn’t take so long to kick in to the action and gory stuff.
